By building on the piercing questions of medieval commentators and the rigorous scholarship of more recent centuries, we will attempt to uncover the deep religious meaning embedded in the Tanakh's multifaceted approach to narrative and law. By the end of the summer, a student in this class should: 1. Feel comfortable using a wide range of biblical commentaries 2. Be able to intuit more deeply the religious messages that emerge from a close reading of the biblical text |
