We will explore the rich traditions of rabbinic interpretation that brought unity to these two accounts of Shabbat, including Talmudic, medieval and hasidic sources. This class will also provide occasion to reflect upon the tension between critical and traditional approaches to the issue of multiple versions of events in the Torah. |
