We will focus on the different approaches of various commentators and contrast their methods though comparative study of their comments on common biblical passages. By the end of the summer, a student in this class should: 1. Have a basic idea of how the commentaries in a Mikraot Gedolot function 2. Understand the distinct approaches of various commentators 3. Be able to use commentators independently to search for a variety of interpretations of the biblical text |
