Last week we welcomed the 47 Yeshivat Hadar summer fellows and marked the beginning of our 4th summer program. We studied texts that helped us imagine an ideal Jewish community (R. Ethan Tucker and R. Shai Held's words can be found online here), and took a moment to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our real Mechon Hadar community over the past four years.
And what a four years it has been. Since 2006, we've:
Founded a new yeshiva - a place where Jewish men and women can study the texts of our tradition in a serious environment where intellectual openness and engagement with the world are celebrated as expressions of Torah.
Graduated more than 100 fellows who have inspired thousands of their peers to participate more deeply in Jewish communal life.
Supported more than 100 Jewish communities - independent minyanim and synagogues -by providing them with resources, guidance and a network to share best practices.
Last week, we wrote to ask you to join us in celebrating Yeshivat Hadar's 4th Summer program, by giving to Mechon Hadar.
Please join this celebration of our 4th summer today by giving a gift of $4 or a multiple of 4, or increasing your gift by $4 or a multiple of 4.
Donations of all sizes are tax deductible and will have a profound impact on our ability to achieve our mission, and any new or increased contributions will be doubled because of the matching grant we received from the Jim Joseph Foundation:
A $1,600 gift = $3,200 with the match = a fellowship for one Yeshivat Hadar summer student.
A $400 gift = $800 with the match = attendance for 8 fellows at a shabbaton.
A $160 gift = $320 with the match = financial aid for two part-time students.
A $40 gift = $80 with the match = a set of books for our library.
A $4 gift = $8 with the match = a day of organic, locally-grown food for one summer fellow.
